Prime time for tarpon fishing is in May and June and the best place is in the world famous Boca Grande, where thousands of fish come for there annual spawn. The usual tarpon fishing day begins at daylight. On the average day we will hook 8 to 10 fish and land 3 to 4 with the average fish being 100 to 150 pounds and some exceeding 200lbs. The average fight is usually 25 to 35 minutes.
How you will be fishing for tarpon one or two different ways: one is by casting crabs to rolling fish on the beach. You try to get in front of them and cast your crab right of the front of the lead tarpon while the sun is starting to crack on some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches. The fish then bite and you set the hook and the amazing fish jumps 6 foot out of the air and the fight is on.
You may also be in pass fishing with jigs drifting over them. With a couple of bumps on your rod and start reeling the fish heads for the top faster then you can reel he jumps and you cant believe how big he is.
The average day of tarpon fishing your will see up to 300 fish!
This is truly one of the best fishing trips you can ever have. There is usually always some kind of action going on whether it is watching the tarpon rolling on the surface or watching them free jump is always a awesome time.
Tarpon fishing isn't just for the hard core fisherman, anybody can do it! No matter what your skill level is or even if you have never saltwater fished before, tarpon fishing is exciting for everyone!
The captain helps you in the fighting chair and you’re off to fight the giant tarpon. For next half hour you fight with everything you have and you think a couple of times that you may not win. The whole time your buddies are watching from the back of the boat and telling you they would have already had it to the boat.
